Who doesn’t like milkshakes! Well okay, I must admit I’m not a crazy milkshake connoisseur, but in my humble opinion these recipes taste pretty awesome!
First let’s talk Protein.
If you’re one of the Insider OG’s, you might remember we talked about protein a while back. Well, here’s a little reminder:
The recommended daily intake for women is 1g of protein for every 2.2 pounds of body weight - but the issue is that this RDA hasn’t been updated in decades and this reccomendation was based on research done on sedentary older men because “they have similar body composition to a healthy female”…
Yeah…I wish it was a joke.
So then how much protein do you really need? Since protein is an essential building block for both muscles and hormones, you want to be getting 0.8 - 1g of protein for each pound of body weight!
So don’t skimp on that protein my friends…it’s absolutely essential!
These delicious milkshake recipes are all great sources of protein & healthy fats, so enjoy as often as you like!
Healthy ChocoNutty Protein Milkshake
1 cup of ice
1 cup of coconut milk (I love the Aroy-D brand)
1 heaped tablespoon of almond/peanut butter
1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened dark chocolate powder
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (stevia sweetened) OR 1 scoop unflavoured Whey Isolate
Agave nectar to taste (optional) You can pulse in some dark chocolate chips after if you like a chunky milkshake!
Blend & Enjoy!
Healthy Protein PinaColada Shake
1 cup of Ice
1 cup of coconut milk (I love the Aroy-D brand)
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
1 scoop unflavoured Whey Isolate protein
Agave nectar to taste (optional)
Blend & enjoy!
Healthy Berry-Booster Protein Milkshake
1 cup of ice
1 cup of coconut milk (I love the Aroy-D brand)
1 cup of mixed frozen berries (or plain blueberries)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (stevia sweetened) OR 1 scoop unflavoured Whey Isolate
Agave nectar to taste (optional)
Blend & Enjoy!
Not really into thick, creamy smoothies? Simply swap the coconut milk (or half of the milk) for coconut water or plain water for a simple, easy protein shake.
