Why we do what we do; Zoe's Story

Hey, I'm Zoé and I'm a certified nutritional therapist & Women's Hormone coach specializing in PCOS & hormonal imbalances.

Well, at least that's the polished version. But how did I get here?

If you'd asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd have probably answered that I wanted to be a Personal Assistant. Why? Because I've always loved helping people! In any case, holistic professional would never have even come up on my radar. I just didn't even think of it! That is, until I was at the end of my rope & searching for anything that might help.

My health challenges began at an early age. At the age of 11 I suffered daily migraines, so painful that all I could do was curl up and sleep. By the age of 12, I struggled with unexplainable and sudden bouts of crying, depression and severe insomnia. Mostly, I was a happy and positive little person. Yet for no apparent reason I would fall into deep emotional distress. This cycle of emotional dysregulation continued to plague me throughout adolescence.

By the age of 16 after a series of traumatic events, I could no longer hide my symptoms. I fell into a cycle of severe depression and anxiety, getting progressively worse, until I completely stopped eating for 2 weeks. The strange part was that it would come and go, sometimes I was fine and suddenly I was not.

I went to a therapist, who referred me to an OB/GYN and eventually I was diagnosed with PMDD. Interestingly enough, all the hormone tests I took came back clear, within the "normal" clinical range. I was prescribed antidepressants, then hormonal medication, then the OB/GYN gave up...

This left me in a very hopeless position, and I spent countless hours on the internet looking or something to relieve the severe depression & anxiety.

Long story short, I eventually found a Dietitian in the US and after just a year of implementing sustainable lifestyle changes, I was living my best life, 99% symptom free!

During my own journey with the Dietitian, I realized my passion for holistic health. The clinical practitioners had dismissed me as a hopeless case, yet there was so much my body needed! And I know for certain that I'm not the only woman in Barbados with hormonal imbalances & menstrual disorders.

I then studied to become a certified Nutritional Therapist & Women's Hormone Coach & specially with women who have PCOS, unquestionably the most common menstrual disorder in the island!

Since then, I have been diagnosed with Endometriosis and suspected Adenomyosis. I am continually learning new ways to manage my symptoms, from enzymes that break down scar tissue and adhesions, to drug free pain relief that actually works!

Wellness is a journey. My struggles with these conditions are the gift that enable me to help others. To feel their pain. To know. ♡

And that, my friends, is how I got here. My work isn't just a job. It's the culmination of an incredibly personal journey & it brings me immense joy to help women every day to reach towards their wellness goals.

So, wanna work together to achieve your goals?
